Heritage Lighthouses in Canada
Canada's historic lighthouses are disappearing at an alarming rate. Some have been saved by community groups as well as by the provincial governments and the Government of Canada. Many have been demolished or have been left to fall into ruins.
Those historic lighthouses that qualify for heritage designation by the federal Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act (HLPA) are highlighted here.
Without an official heritage designation, lighthouses will be lost forever.
